I do wonder if part of the perceived status of 'Androzani' comes from the fact that it stands so far above anything else that the show had produced for at least two years, and harks back to the values of the early 1970s, rather than filling up with endless overt references to past continuity. It is good, I agree, but would it have such a reputation had it been broadcast in 1975?
