Glad you were able to see it, and thanks for the body-snatching background info. That just confirms what a mish-mash of generic tropes with scant regard for plausibility the whole story is, really. It certainly doesn't come from Poe - check out the Wikipedia summary of the original story (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Oblong_Box_%28short_story%29) for the utter lack of resemblance to anything whatsoever that happens in the film!
