OK, so that's you and sovay who have mentioned 'The Stains' now, and this review I've just found of it does indeed make it sound excellent. So that's an addition to my want-to-read list.

Also as per the comments above, I have seen a short film adaptation of The Cicerones (without knowing it was by Aickman or really knowing anything about him at that time), but not read it. I think that it worth tracking down too.
