Oh, thank you for both links. I was interested to find you'd compared the posed tableaux to Greenaway, as I had thought the same myself, especially in relation to The Draughtsman's Contract. It's so long since I saw that now (over 15 years) that in the end I lost confidence in the accuracy of my memories, so left it out of the review. But I'd glad to know I wasn't so far astray!

I haven't seen The Witch, but it is on my Sky box too and indeed when I was deciding what to watch last night it was the other leading contender. So what you say here confirms it as a good choice for my next watch.
