The 2005 Oxford Greek Play is nigh. Details, as copied from an email I received about it, are as follows:

"THE OXFORD GREEK PLAY 2005 - EURIPIDES' ORESTES

The Oxford University Classical Drama Society celebrates 125 years of the historic Oxford Greek Play with a production of Euripides' ORESTES.

A student production with original music and choreography, ORESTES will be performed in ancient Greek with English surtitles at the Oxford Playhouse from 12th-15th October.

Performances at 2.30pm and 7.30pm (Friday 2.30pm and 8.00pm). Tickets cost
£9/12, students £7. Visit www.orestes.co.uk for more information, or phone the Oxford Playhouse Box Office on 01865 305305. Please book early to avoid disappointment."

[livejournal.com profile] swisstone has already expressed interest, and I'm certainly keen to go. Previous experience suggests it's likely to be pretty damned impressive. Is anyone else interested, and if so, which dates would be best for you?

In conversation about it, [livejournal.com profile] swisstone and I were gravitating towards Saturday 15th, which could of course mean either the matinee or the evening performance. I've already promised [livejournal.com profile] swisstone (and K if she'd like to come too?) my sofa-bed if required, I'm afraid, but then again if we went to the afternoon performance, it could be slotted fairly easily into a day-trip from almost anywhere in England anyway.

Let me know if you're interested! I'm quite happy to handle ticket-booking, etc.

My memory is that you mentioned the Friday, but Saturday is better, as Friday is B-Movie. (Bear that in mind when you decide whether you want to go for the matinee or evening.)

I don't think Kate will come - I can drag her along to a UCL Aristophanes, but Greek-language stuff won't interest her.

Oh, right - well, Saturday it is, then. I don't know whether I'll be coming down for B-Movie or not - it largely depends on how the term is going by then, and what other Oxford people are planning. But on the basis that either or both of us might want to, that makes the evening performance sound like the better choice, doesn't it?

I'll wait a while to see if anyone else is interested, and then get in touch to confirm that and make arrangements for buying the tickets.
