I have a cold. Bah! I don't expect anyone else to be very interested in this fact - I'm just recording it because it's sometimes helpful to know how often you're getting colds, really.

Well, that and because it helps to grumble. *grumble!*

Miserable things, aren't they? I swear by echinacea - it really does reduce the duration of a cold markedly, especially if you start taking it as soon as you feel ill.

Get well soon!

I don't like lemsip : ( prefer just having hot honey and lemon and paracetamol instead.

I'll be alright.

No, you're right - that is nicer. Although sometimes I kind of like the weird, powdery taste of the Lemsip.

If it's the cold I had it's very nassty, preciouss; expect to have at least one day off work. Lots of fluids, and especially sleep.

It is pretty shitty, but I don't think a day off is realistic given the amount of stuff I have to do at the moment.

Poor you :( *hugs*
Can you blame the students? I always get ill at the start of term.
Can't believe you didn't mention Harry Potter or maybe you hadn't seen the news yet.
I'm enjoying writing an article - has the world gone mad??
Get better soon!
Wow, disjointed.

Can you blame the students?

Oh, yes - it's clearly their fault!

I did know about Harry Potter, but it's only the date that's been confirmed, really. I knew it would be pretty soon, and probably this summer.

Keep it up with the article!

Poor you! I think I may have the start of one, too. Of course, it sounds more impressive if, as one my students did, you tell people you have a doctor's excuse for missing several classes due to the Rhinovirus going around. I was like, "Dude! do you and your measly MD think that this PhD in Medieval and Ancient History is stupid???"* Yet another reason that training in Classical stuff rawks: even when our Greek is almost non-existent, we still know roots and can figure out big scary medical words.

Actually, what I e-mailed back was, "I am very sorry you have had a cold and happy to hear you will not be missing any further classes. By the way, the syllabus clearly states that a medical excuse only allows you to make up work. I trust you will be bringing the essay that was due on Monday with you to class."

Boo to the cold, 'tis not fun at all. But yay for LJ and grumbling! If you can't have a good old grumble on your journal, what good's it for, eh? :D
