Ohhhh, yes! Yes, sir, thank-you-very-much-indeed.

Know the moment I liked best? It was just a small thing. When Stoker looked out of the hospital window at the moonscape, and the real Earth, suspended in the sky, was reflected in the window above and to the left of him, while a small globe was standing on the window-sill below and to the right, with his unbelieving face staring outwards in between. Those are the moments which tell you you're watching a well-crafted, well-thought-out piece of television, and not some half-assed piece of rubbish.

Edit: This moment, to be precise, from about 7:50 into the episode:

Thanks, YouTube.

I look forward immensely to the rest of the series. And if I'm not careful, I could well find myself nursing a serious Ten crush by the end of it...

I was glad to have the pleasure of the company of [livejournal.com profile] nigelmouse and [livejournal.com profile] big_daz for Who - I always feel a new series should be started with fellow enthusiasts. We also enjoyed an episode of Fry & Laurie, Gosford Park (after Nigel had headed subculture-wards for bleepy music), and a quite impressive quantity of beer and bikkies. A fine evening all round.

I liked it too. Though you'd have thought they'd have modified the New Rock boots a bit to make them less recognisable. Or do the Judoon come down to earth to buy their footwear in Goth shops? That might explain the black kilts they picked up whilst they were there...

I reckon they have a standing order - like Doc Marten's for the Pope's Swiss Guard.

Holly and me (with Parents) watched it too - and Holls loved it! Especially the Ju(j?)ood rhino policemen "Look at those pig-monsters Holly" - "No Mummy, they're rhinos, not pigs"... she's far cleverer than I am. We even got tantrums when it ended and an insistence on watching the video of the "Sea Devils" with Jon Pertwee... Ace...

Tantrums when it ended, eh? Clearly her mother's daughter! And you can tell her I entirely agree! Damned inconvenient to have to wait another week for the next episode...

(Just got your text - will reply now!)

It was good, though, wasn't it? I do quite like Martha, I think it is the hairdo. That and seeing the (previously) revered Billie's rather dismal performance in Mansfield Park the other week which sort of removed her godliness for me.

Yes - she's sassy, and there's a very different dynamic there. I loved that normally it is the Doctor who's telling people like Rose how he promises he'll get them out of some perilous situation alive, but in Smith and Jones, while the two of them were standing on the balcony together, Martha told him that she promised she'd get them back to Earth. I don't think he's ever encountered anyone quite like her before, and it's going to be interesting seeing how he reacts...

I missed all except about two seconds of Billie in Mansfield Park, but what I saw didn't make me sorry I had!
