I am disappointed.

See, now that I live in my own house instead of a flat for the first time ever on Halloween, and in a reasonably family-ish neighbourhood, too, I figured I might get kids round trick-or-treating. So I was ready! I had a huge bowl full of yummy treats. And I made sure I left the porch light on, and all. But no children came. :-(

I wanted to ward off evil spirits with propitiatory offerings, dammit!

I guess now I will just have to eat all those sweets myself...

Are you still up for coming on Sat? Do say yes! And bring your sweets!

Bah, same here - and I put out a jack-o-lantern too. Must remember to go and blow it out before I go to bed.

Oh well, mini Crunchies ahoy for the workmates tomorrow...

Come to the States. I'm getting up every five minutes to answer the door! And my talking pirate skeleton doorhanger is going down a storm...

Granted, I'm giving them all bat-shaped pretzels instead of sweets. I've seen how much sugar kids get at Hallowe'en here, and I refuse to assist in such wanton tooth decay!

Last year I bought loads of sweets to give out (since most Hallowe'ens prior I was either in Whitby or had only just come back from Whitby and was unprepared) and I waited by my door.

At about 6.30 some small children knocked on my door in their Hallowe'en costumes (accompanied by an adult) and they all got a handful of sweets.

I sat back down wating for the next knock on the door but there was nothing for aaages.

It got to the stage when I thought it would be too late to be out trick or treating when at just after 8.30 another group of children turned up (again with an adult). I decided that they would likely be the last of the evening so they all got bumper handouts just to get rid of all the chocs! One even came back a few minutes later but he was very polite (if not a bit cheeky) so he got some more. Once his friends found out, they all came back.

So, in the end I got rid of most of the sweets and helped fuel the obesiry epidemic in children just a little bit. :)

Oh, that is sad! We had rakes and rakes of cheeky kids in costumes over their shalwar kameezes and hijabs. Very very cute, but slightly ungrateful!

Curses.

If I'd known that there were lots of free sweets going, I'd have been stood outside your house all night with a sheet over my head and going "wooooh".

Until the Police arrived, that is.

having just got my own house too, I too prepared with sweets,

my only group of trick or treat'ers were about 16 and had the worst costumes in the world..

mind you i didn't get home from work til after 7.30 so that probably didn't help.

trick or treat

Hmmm. Swings and roundabouts you know - I spent £10 on sweets, welcomed 6 groups of trick or treaters AND still got eggs thrown at my house - a little unfair, I thought :(
