I also loved it - esp. the fact that to totally appreciate it you have to have been there in 1981/2 (or else watched the vids or DVDs). That was our era dude! :)

Oh, I know! It was totally all about fandom really, wasn't it? Though I'm surprised Tennant doesn't consider Baker to be more 'his' Doctor than Davison, since Tennant was born in '71, and I certainly think of Baker as 'my' Doctor. I mean, I know Davison was the one who agreed to do the sketch, not Baker, so it would have been a bit crap in story terms if he'd stood there saying "I quite liked being you, and thought Peri was hawt, but actually the goggle-eyed loon before you was my real Doctor." But it's quite clear from the behind-the-scenes mini-documentary (see link in swisstone's comment above if you haven't seen it yet) that Tennant really does think of Davison as his guy. Which is fair play, but just - surprising.

so the Xmas special was broadcast in England? Rassilon knows how long I'll have to wait to see it here (US). The BBC blocks its online videos from the US if they don't have a license here. I'll have to wait for someone to post it on youtube.

Have no fear - you'll find dozens of links to both videos and transcripts of it all over the doctorwho comm at the moment. It's not the Christmas special with Kylie Minogue, though - just a 7-minute sketch that was broadcast as part of the BBC's Children in Need fund-raising night.
