Leeds people: Yes to Fairer Votes photo-op this Saturday!

If you're within striking distance of Leeds and free this coming Saturday afternoon, our local Yes to Fairer Votes group is having a balloon release on the Town Hall steps at 3pm.

It'll basically be similar to what we did at the bonfire in November, except with balloons instead of fireworks. We have a helium canister and we're not afraid to use it!

The more people we can get crowding around looking interested, the better - so do come along and pose with 'Yes!' speech-bubbles, take photos of us or just enjoy looking at the pretty balloons (they are purple, of course!).

We're particularly keen to get as many photographers as possible down there. We've invited some local press photographers, but this should be a fun event for keen amateurs to take pictures of - and obviously we would absolutely love it if dozens of pictures of us all holding our 'Yes!' banners got uploaded to Flickr, Facebook and the like in the aftermath of the release. Anything to help spread the word!

Hope to see some of the local crowd there on Saturday - and I'm sure there will be pictures available afterwards for those who aren't able to come along in person.

Sounds rather fun; I might be tempted to hop on the 760 and roll along, especially as Mr Foley's is over the road. Sadly the only item of purple clothing I now possess is a very ill-fitting goalkeeper's jersey...

Mr Foley's is already our official campaign pub (mainly because the phone-bank / campaign HQ is also just over the road), so I can pretty much guarantee that we'll end up in there at the end of the afternoon! :-)

As for clothing, the office has apparently just received a batch of Yes T-shirts, so we may be able to help you out there, too. If you'd like one to wear, or indeed fancy helping out with inflating some of the balloons, we'll be at HQ from about 1pm onwards. It's Aspect Court, 47 Park Square East, Leeds, LS1 2NL - diagonally opposite the SW corner of the Town Hall.

You may find the door to Aspect Court locked, as it's a Saturday - usually we put a mobile phone number on the door so you can get one of us to let you in, or just in case you can also find my number in this flocked post (http://strange-complex.livejournal.com/223408.html). It's very active and I actually find out about events happening around Leeds just by lurking in there. They seem to love a good photo oppertunity :)
