Goblet of Fire teaser trailer
Sunday, 8 May 2005 14:13The first teaser trailer has debuted on Apple.com, and you can see it here, in QuickTime format. It's very teensy-tiny, but it does look exciting, with a similar dark feeling to the previous film (both in its colour palette and its content).
Sadly no Snape - in fact I don't think I have even seen any stills of Snape from the new film yet. But then he's by no means the only character we haven't seen in a GoF context yet - other important ones including McGonagall, Hagrid, Barty Crouch Jr. and Mad-Eye Moody, to the best of my knowledge. So hopefully it doesn't mean he doesn't have much of a role, because he is pretty important to the plot.

Date: Sunday, 8 May 2005 13:36 (UTC)There's been nothing of Sirius at all so far, and I've heard rumours that he won't have an important role in this film (ie, that they are cutting out the bit in his cave). If that's true it's not a good thing...his relationship with Harry is crucial in this film, he's one of the few people that Harry can trust and rely on.
Similarly, Snape has a key role in this film and I'd be very disappointed if they left a lot of his scenes out.

Date: Sunday, 8 May 2005 14:47 (UTC)However, I am still a little miffed that the director of PoA persuaded them to only do this as one film, rather than the two.
I am looking forward to the film.... but I'm looking forward to book 6 more.

Date: Sunday, 8 May 2005 17:36 (UTC)I hope he'll be in the final few scenes, when the truth is revealed in Dumbledore's office because that's a pretty important bit in terms of their relationship, it shows him to be really protective of Harry and so on. Damn you Mike Newell!!!

Date: Sunday, 8 May 2005 17:39 (UTC)And I definitely think he'll be back, too :) There's no way Rowling can leave such an important and powerful character out of future events.

Date: Sunday, 8 May 2005 17:41 (UTC)Really there's no reason that they should - it's be better to just make the film a bit longer - was written as one book for a reason.

Date: Sunday, 8 May 2005 18:10 (UTC)But there will be so much that they HAVE to leave out, that may be important, simply down to the length of the book. It is rather large for a book, and has a lot of detail. Even the first three films were not especially short, and they were significantly shorter than 4 and 5.
I suppose we can't really make a proper judgement until the film finally comes out!

Date: Sunday, 8 May 2005 19:35 (UTC)I do think that if he was given a decent amount of scenes in this forthcoming film that he might be able to put more into the role but as it is, I think most of his stuff has been cut which is a real shame and prevents the character being developed. I'd rather see good characterisation and dialogue over a big exciting scene with broomsticks or monsters anyday but again that's just my own preference.
