Damn, I wish this University would turn the heating on! It's freezing here today, and they're not even saving any money by withholding my radiator, because I've had to put my electric heater on instead.

*puts on fingerless gloves and pokes the lone coal in the stove*

Its absolutely ridiculous. Why does no one complain. Bet the VC has his heater on....

My cleaner told me that 'they' came over to Anthropology yesterday to see if the heating should be turned on, and declared that it wasn't cold enough to be necessary. *grrr*

Exactly - it's ridiculous! We also have a heater on but the room's so big and the heater so small it doesn't do much good!

I want some fingerless gloves now!! BRRRR

My heater is OK at warming the room, but the noise gets annoying, and there's something about the kind of heat it produces that makes me feel really sleepy after a while. Or maybe it is the noise that lulls me into a trance?

Heaters make me feel dehydrated - like my eyes are all dry, and yeah the noise is annoying, but I think I tune it out after a bit.

Ah, I see nothing's changed.

Next thing to happen is they will come and take all the heaters away because they're a fire risk.

Absolutely not. This happened the first year that I was working there - Facilities raided the offices at the weekend and took all the electric heaters away because they weren't electrically-certified, including some that were the personal property of academic staff.

I, however, had tidied my heater away under a bookcase, and they missed it. So for a while I was the only person there with a remotely warm office.

*boggles*

I will be more careful with mine in future, then, especially since it is my personal property.

You're telling me... It's cold here in Lincoln, too. Who would have thought we were in the middle of bleeding June?

Well, I'm glad to hear it's not just because I'm over in Norn Iron. Love the icon, by the way - very appropriate, and cute to boot!

You'll probably hate me, but I "anticipated" that today shall be cold and opted to work from home - the true version is that I got lucky....

*looks out window and watches pouring rain*

Currently I am snuggled in a huge feather duvet and I am no-where near making an attempt to do my work :o)

Duvet? *throws mug at you*

On the plus side, it's not raining in Belfast. But since I'm inside anyway, it wouldn't really make much difference if it was.

*Ay - barely ducks flying mug*

I will make a move hopefully around lunchtime!

I just have a feeling that I'll open the fridge and realise I'm missing something important and thus have to venture out into the rain. Hence I can claim right now that I am merely recharging my heat cells under the duvet :o)

Ah! The perfect solution! And by the time I run out, the powers that be should have sat up and taken notice, at least.

YOur icons are amazing. I am daunted by the thought of my 100. And how does one go about donating one's leftover paid ljness?

Ah, you committed too then? ;) I am really loving it so far, and have done practically nothing but make icons in my spare time since I did it.

To become your own personal Saint Nicholas, you just need to go here (http://www.livejournal.com/tools/xfer_remaining.bml) and fill in the box.

The perm account is one of the 100 or so things I keep meaning to journal about.

Giving away paidness makes one all warm and glowy. Go us!
